BIG NEWS for Gateway to the Bay!

Olympian Matt Reed and Ironman 70.3 World Champion Andy Potts will be attending this year’s Gateway to the Bay Triathlon. Both athletes will captain their own relay teams and raise money for Jenny’s Light. Jenny’s Light is a charity set up by Becky Lavelle (USA Triathlon’s 2008 Non-ITU Pro-Triathlete of the year) in memory of her sister. Jenny’s Light helps women with Postpartum Mood Disorders. Spots on Team Reed and Team Potts will be auctioned off via Ebay starting mid February. Team Reed will have Swim & Bike legs available and Team Potts will have Bike & Run legs available.

Recruit a Volunteer Contest
Win a FREE/REINBURSED entry!
This contest is open to anyone that has either already registered for Gateway or has not yet registered but wish to do so. Here’s how it works.
You have until March 22 to recruit as many volunteers as you possibly can. Whether you get friends, family, people you work with, your kids sports team, your church group, or all of the above. The skys the limit and we welcome all groups, teams, and individuals willing to help us put on a quality race. The person/team that has collected and registered the most volunteers by March 22 will win a FREE or REIMBURSED entry into the race. Those that fall short will not leave empty handed. The other top 5 recruiters will be rewarded with either a comped entry to the Bridgeland Triathlon, Houston Triathlon, gift cards to Bicycle World and Fitness, Finish Line Sports, and some Onurleft Sports Triathlon Gear.
Remember your volunteers must be registered with contact info (name, age, gender, email, and phone) before the deadline and contact will be made to confirm. You may individually sign up volunteers through our active.com registration site and/or larger groups maybe emailed (as an excel roster) to Melissa Berger, our Volunteer Coordinator. Thank you and good luck!
